Actually, there is a tool for removing links in the box, so the guess should be right, but no additional links needed to be added. Of course, this watch needs to be snug enough against the skin to track and record heartbeats, but too tight a fit will give false readings and also cause discomfort. My wrist is a normal size for a man, the circumference is only 7 1/4" and this watch is too tight, to wear them or to be effective as a health tool. i give them back
