It turns out it doesn't work like normal KVM switches: it uses special, non-standard adapter cables that don't seem to necessarily be available on amazon.com. or if they are expensive. So you can't, for example, replace your existing 2-port KVM with this one and reuse your existing cables. And you might not even be able to use THIS KVM because you can't find the cables you need. This KVM switch comes with only ONE cable to connect mouse, keyboard and video; You must purchase at least two additional cables for this KVM switch to work. So when you factor in the cost of the extra custom cables you have to buy (assuming you can find them at all), this KVM is VERY expensive. I return mine. It would be nice if the product description mentioned the requirement for a special type of cable.
