Works great when positioned correctly

Our new car didn't have the dimmable mirror with compass like our old car and I really missed the compass feature. It would cost a few hundred dollars to replace the rearview mirror, so I decided to try this simple compass. It's easy to read and works great if you find the right position on your windshield - that's the key to reading accurately! I had to experiment to find an area unaffected by the metal in the car (because it gives inaccurate readings), but I found the perfect spot right next to the rearview mirror. I've checked its accuracy with GPS and where I've positioned it, it's absolutely accurate. I tried other points on the windshield and dash but they weren't as accurate (or not accurate at all). Many people complained that it was a piece of junk due to the lack of precision. I'm pretty sure it was placement. If you are patient and experiment with positioning, you will get an accurate value. Six dollars against $$$ just to have a compass - it didn't seem like anything to me. I am completely satisfied with this little gadget!
