Review on TRAM 1607 HC 46 Inch Marine Antenna by Mark Gilbert

The antenna actually looks pretty decent for the money, but the socket is pretty flimsy. When I first drive the boat into port, the antenna does not stay upright. The impact on the road (not much on the freeway) was enough to cause her to collapse and lie down (too much of it would likely cause her to break). I'm a bit worried about that strength so I redid the joint and we'll see if it holds up on the water on Saturday. The installation instructions are pretty bad and I'm not at a low level. On my second install run, I had to add my own stainless steel washers on either side of the hinge pin to keep this thing from rotting over time. Some blue Loctite was also added to the screw to keep it from coming loose and causing a breakdown.
