Excellent temperature gun, suitable for catalytic converter testing

I chose this temperature gun because it has a higher maximum temperature than most of the competition. If required, a model with a higher maximum temperature is available. I was really looking for something with minimum, maximum and medium capabilities and this does a great job. You can scan for a while and then get the minimum, maximum and average over the whole scan period. It can also set an alarm for any low and high temperature you want, and then beep if the low or high temperature is exceeded during a scan. There's a nice backlight that can be turned on or off. Warning that the same function can also disable the laser (don't know why I would want to do that) but you can. The box it came in was very high quality, difficult to open but certainly beautiful. The carry case is decent and I could use it because it's basically the exact size of the gun and no more. The weapon is pleasant to the touch and at the same time not of the highest quality. It's also not super cheap IMHO. I'll be careful with that. I found the battery difficult to insert without closing the lid. Having read this in another review, I tried several configurations and pretty easily closed it on the sixth try. Then I found that the instructions have a page about getting online and they show a video on how to do it. If only I had read the instructions first! The instructions were pretty good and unfortunately in many languages. Due to the 10:1 ratio and the two lasers, you need to be about 8 inches apart for the extra distance between the two lasers. You can read on, but then the lasers are pretty far away. I can aim at my TV and it has a laser at the top and bottom of the screen. So it's best to be close enough to what you're measuring. Overall this seems to be a great product. I bought it to measure my catalytic converters before and after to see if the cat is good or bad. (Usually the temperature is high, and will be even higher after the cat when it works. A broken cat has a temperature drop. So you can save hundreds if you just told you need a new cat, 1000-2000 dollars. It could just be your sensors...or something else.
