I wanted green and this was the only version of green so this feature was perfect! There is a second component that you can purchase separately that attaches to the top and holds the handles. This was for my grandson and I was looking for a container for his many pens. This base is just a round box with a lid. You can store erasers or note cards in it. You probably wouldn't buy it alone. If the top half is placed on top, the element will be too large. It doesn't lock so it's easy to knock over and all the handles fall out.
