I purchased this item less than a few months ago, used probably a dozen times, alternating with another oral irrigator. The plastic plug covering the hole in the water tank is already broken so it can't stay closed. Apparently the molded plastic sponge that's supposed to stick to the hole was faulty, although I don't see any noticeable chips or cracks. It just won't snap. This way, when in use, water will flow out of the bottom of the irrigator, allowing for a maximum run time of 15-20 seconds, with water naturally running out. So it's not functional and I'm trying to improvise by putting a rubber band around the base of the device to hold the lid in place. But the band must be moved to open the water fill tank, and the device cannot be closed to its most compact size when the band is wrapped around the base. Completely unacceptable. I have contacted the Chinese manufacturer regarding this issue but have not yet received a reply. Overall it seems like a waste of money, poor design and minimal durability.
