Review on Summer Infant Decorative Pressure Mounted by Leticia Ellis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice looking, strong, well built wide opening gate

Over the past few years I have dealt with MANY gates for children and pets while working at an animal shelter and as a foster family. Externally, this one is similar to most others - it has a latch that can be operated with one hand, it uses pressure pads at the top of the bottom of each end, it has several additional detachable sections for accommodating different sized holes. The devil is in the details and these goals get many details right. Firstly the extension sections - they fit STRONGLY to each other and to the gate, the whole unit is a solid structurally and visually coherent structure. Second, the gates themselves - they are quite wide compared to most, very easy to pass through. Third, the finish is a very nice dark metal on part of the fence with slightly lighter wood gates. I use this gate as a barrier so my dogs don't rush to the front door when we have company. This is part of our living room, so it is very important that it looks, if not attractive, then at least unobtrusive. The hole I have is about 55" so I used all but the smallest 4" extension and it's pretty solid. If I could do something else, I'd like an auto-close option, but that feature is usually hard to find. with double-leaf gates, so I would generally prefer double-leaf gates and no automatic closure. Very satisfied with the product and the price.
