These skates are ideal for beginners. I've had mine for over 2 months now. I've only seen wear and tear on my own case. The wheels were a little tight at first, but after I rode a bit they loosened up. I find they are best for beginners who don't want to spend a lot of money and get their feet wet first. Now the minuses are the wheels and the emphasis on convergence. Yes, it's a harder plastic (plus plastic) so you can feel every bump in the road. I would recommend staying inside or staying on the bike path. Again very happy with it as a beginner skater!
