I've been using the $15 harbor freight sensor for years now. 2 passed. I figured the missed detections and false positives were to be expected. But this spring, having false alarms multiple times a day, I got angry and started looking for a better device. After some research I decided to get this Guardline alarm and am very glad I did. It was a lot more expensive than what I was using, but if it worked really well it would have been worth the extra cost. Ordered from Revain. It arrived in just a few days. Inside were two boxes: one for the signal part that comes inside, the other for the sensor that is installed outside so it can see the driveway. The assembly instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The sensor was easy to assemble and insert the required AAA batteries. Pairing with the receiver went smoothly. In my case, the receiver is in a steel-walled house and the sensor is about 50 meters away. The sensor is mounted at a height of about 4 feet and attached to a pine board, which in turn is attached to a tree. You can point the sensor in different directions, enable low-speed detection, change the maximum detection area, change the reacquisition time, and adjust the sensitivity. In fact, I was surprised at how unusual this signaling can be. Everything went very smoothly. except that I had too many false positives and a few missed detections. I went back to the gauge and tried to adjust where it was pointing. This made a big difference in performance. After using it for over a week, I am amazed by its sensitivity. I've had very few false alarms (deer walking past the sensor, a giant crow walking down the driveway, and a few alarms for unknown reasons), but all true situations (car in driveway, person walking in driveway) have been resolved recognized. Perhaps the most difficult part of setting up the system is deciding which of the 32 alarm tones you want to hear. I chose "car horn" and it worked fine. The company also contacted me twice asking if everything was ok with the installation or if I could get any help (I never needed their help). Conclusion: high-quality product, fast delivery, good assembly instructions, enough offers. Support when needed and excellent performance. It was actually more than I expected from this traffic warning product. Was it worth the higher premium price? Absolutely yes. I don't regret this purchase at all.
