We lowered the cot and remembered there was a plug behind the cot. Unfortunately, this was the main useful plugin in his bedroom. Another was sitting right next to the heater and we didn't want to run an extension cord across the room to plug in his sound machine, baby monitor and humidifier next to his crib. It was the perfect solution! While we waited, we used the shelf. We were afraid he might pull out the nest covers if he found them. He's a mean little monkey. I'll update this review if this thing stops working or explodes. But for now we're delighted with our purchase and so glad we don't have to worry about fingers in sockets.
