_______6.2.2021 Update______Only reporting in the hub still works as it should. all switches work properly. 100% satisfied. Please note that this is a 5Gb/s hub. My devices are slowly moving to 10 Gbps but it's still great for hard drives._________Original_____I bought this USB hub with my hard earned money and this review contains my own thoughts and opinions. I didn't want to wear out plugs or ports to plug and unplug the device whenever I needed it. With the switches, I can just turn it on whenever I want. I am currently using this hub without an external power supply as the drives connected to it are powered by their own power supply and not by the hub. The LED that indicates that the port is on is not very bright, but it is easy to see. I'm very glad about that. The case itself is plastic, but feels premium. The buttons have a satisfying click. Everything seems to be of good quality. My only real criticism of this hub is that it's not USB3.1 Gen2 (10Gb/s). It's almost impossible to find a device with these specs, but since I mostly use HDDs instead of SSDs on a hub, USB 3.0 is acceptable. I will also say that the cable length is very short for this hub. This seems to be the trend for USB3 devices. However, the length is sufficient for my use. I'm currently testing the performance of hubs. A test of my own curiosity. I'll try to update this review with what I find out. An update if/when I get to it will include the actual performance figures of this hub compared to connecting directly to USB3 ports. One test I ran is a sustained 30 minute big data transfer. This hub maintained its data rate at all times and stayed cool under pressure. This means it won't overheat. main results. NO performance data: I wanted to test the performance as USB2 hubs can have a noticeable drop in performance when using more than 1 device at a time, but that was due to the throughput of USB2. It seems that with USB3, 3.0 (5 Gb/s) and others, the bandwidth is so high that the transfer speed of the hard disk simply does not slow down, and even the SSD does not slow down. A note on my testing methodology: hubs that are also used to control monitors/displays, Ethernet, or wireless devices are not included here. I will only use it to test external hard drives. The displays consume some bandwidth, reducing the amount available for external devices.
