Edit: The customer service for this product is amazing. After that they contacted me and said they would ask the manufacturer to replace the useless vinyl bag with a cotton bag. It doesn't really affect my case, but I hope that new customers will get a better product in the future. The fact that they took the time to contact me and see how they could fix the problem is a testament to their initiative and is greatly appreciated. I find the pillow a bit small. I am only 6 months pregnant and the pillow is wrapped halfway around my waist. It seems pretty loose, not sure if that's a good thing or not, but it's definitely not tight (I'm pretty skinny overall). What I dislike the most is the useless bag it turned up in. I put it back in my pocket after testing it and it ripped immediately. It's just a thicker type of plastic that's too small and you have to compress it. I don't understand why these Chinese companies make a useless tote bag and then advertise it as useful. At least give me a cloth bag or a large bag, or just don't advertise that it comes with a tote bag. As for the material, it just looks like tough cotton. Nothing super soft or rough or anything like that. It's nice that the cover can be removed and washed. The pillow feels neither too hard nor too soft.
