Review on PapaViva Lenses Replacement Whisker Polarized by Steven Ross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Chrome Silver Lens: Decent product, slightly darker than OEM Black Iridium.

This is a review of Chrome Silver lenses which appear to be discontinued. I don't know why the Revain purchase history shows that I bought a brown lens. The left glass fits perfectly. No problem installing it. The correct lens would not allow full clamping. It's a thread or two too shy for the clamp to be flush. I took this to an optician/repair shop and the tech had the same issue. He suggested that the lens is slightly oversized. It's also possible that the frames are to blame. I give the supplier the benefit of the doubt and assume the frame may be preventing a flush clamp as the frames are almost 15 years old. Despite this very minor annoyance, the lens sits completely flush on both sides and is firmly locked in place. This has no effect on the function and is only noticeable if you look very closely. I also passed the UV technical test. His device only tests UVA and B, not C. He confirms that this lens filters out 100% UVA and UVB as advertised. UV is much less of an issue with sunglasses as it's not as common as A and B. I don't know anything about UV-C filters in that regard. The supplier advertises with Z87.1 impact resistance. Since testing requires destructive testing in a lab, I'll take the vendor's word. While I have no reason to believe they aren't as advertised, I would never use these or any other brand of impact goggles unless they were made by a company with a long history of providing reliable and dependable Eye protection can look back - 3M and UVEX for the name two. If you care about your eyes, it's best to use a trusted source for goggles. It's too early to talk about durability. They replace the factory non-polarized black iridium bulbs that lasted almost 15 years before peeling the coating off became a distraction. They're a bit darker than the OEM lenses, but I have to switch between them quickly to notice. The OEM Oakley lenses they replace have a very slight edge in clarity, but again, the difference is very hard to notice unless you're switching back and forth quickly. Good product and I'm glad to know that there seems to be enough on the market for genuine Oakley whiskers that third parties are stepping in to provide replacements. I would like to buy a replacement from Oakley but they no longer support this product. Not even screws or nose pads. They've recently started selling whiskers again, but the design has changed a bit.
