Review on ๐Ÿ” AKWOX Tempered Glass Top Screen Protector + HD Clear Bottom Filter for New Nintendo 2DS XL (4-Pack) by Todd Amarsingh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product but it's all about the installation

Let me start by saying that I've installed them on 2 2DS and 1 2DS XL and I have to say that overall they're an excellent one screen protectors are. . The tempered glass for the top screen looks great and really covers the entire screen with very small gaps around the edges. That annoys me a lot, because the larger the gaps, the more dust and dirt settle and only make the whole thing dirty. There isn't much room for that here. The touchscreen protector is much thinner and NOT tempered glass for obvious reasons. Again, this is to be expected since you need a touch response here. The touchpads on both consoles remained responsive and worked well even with Protection turned on. 4 stars because of the "instructions" for installation and the items supplied. There are very handy stickers on the protectors themselves so you know which side is which and help you remove the fairing which is very easy. However, I think the instructions are a bit oversimplified. If I hadn't put on a dozen screen protectors over the years I might not have figured out what to do. Alternatively, you can also throw the supplied "cleaning" rags in the trash. There are two of them. #1 is an alcohol-based wet wipe. Two of the three I made out of Akwox actually had it dry to the bone. The 2DS XL was really wet so I used it. There was an error. Whatever cleaning agent was on the pad left only streaks and residue on the screen, even after I wiped it thoroughly with a second, "dry" cloth. Do yourself a favor and skip them. Just grab an alcohol swab (like the ones in first-aid kits - they sell by the box at CVS or Walgreens for a low price) and something lint-free (I use coffee filters). A few tips: Wipe down the screens with an alcohol wipe, then wipe down the coffee filter. It couldn't be cleaner. Also, keep a can of compressed air handy and work in the bathroom with a hot shower to create some moisture in the air. This moisture won't be enough to damage your electronics, but it will cause all those pesky dust particles to settle in the air and reduce them to your beautifully clean screen. Finally, make sure you do this on one screen from start to finish. Don't try to do them all at once, as you're just causing particles to hit one while you're doing the other. Again I would recommend this product, just know what you are getting into with the install and you will be very happy with the results.
