They held together after a few months of running, but eventually flattened out a bit. They don't offer arch support if you want it. They work like water shoes and running shoes. I'm not sure if they're really made for running, but they work just as well as trail running shoes, spikeless and a little looser. They are a good transitional shoe if you want to start walking barefoot, you strengthen your ankle by using them due to the lack of cushioning. Bad for your knees though
