Very strong cardboard tubes - they are stronger than plain white tubes. Plain white from another seller is strong enough for crafts, but these bright colors are stronger and will last better. I built a kazoo with several different groups of children and had to drill two small holes in each tube. These multicolored holes were a little more difficult to pierce, but the shape remained the same. The whites were easier to prick, but I had to be careful not to break the whistle and get it out of shape. The kids loved picking the color they wanted and the colors are really pretty just like the picture. I would take these colorful ones again!
