I bought this router to replace my WRT54G which died after 5 years of continuous use. Given the performance of my previous Linksys, switching back to their product was an easy decision. I chose Wireless-G because there aren't many reviews that Wireless-n technology improves performance. Also, I was hoping I wouldn't have any trouble setting up my router connected to a similar product. I have AT&T DSL Express service with up to 1.5 Mbps downstream. Although my connection speed may not be very fast, I'm quite happy with the performance for home use. I haven't noticed any drop in speed when using my Linksys wireless connection compared to a direct Ethernet connection. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my signal range was slightly longer than my previous router. I'm only saying this because I usually get the best signal quality on my laptop. I can't offer any specs or "scientific evidence", just my random observation. I've noticed a lot of people complaining about the facility. I spent about 2.5 hours setting up my network, but that was probably due to my lack of computer skills, not the Linksys product. Initially, I did the router setup with my (Windows-based) laptop using the CD that came with it. My fatal mistake happened when I chose WPA encryption - higher security, why not? Well, the CD warns that older computers (hence my laptop) may not be WPA compatible. There were no problems connecting our iMac; The instructions that came with it were easy to follow and worked great. When I tried to connect my laptop there was a problem and I really messed it up when the BFG tried to fix it. I finally set up WEP encryption - the same as my previous router - and everything is fine now. In the end, I'm very happy with the Linksys Wireless-G routers. I probably wouldn't have had a problem setting it up if I'd followed the instructions carefully. In any case, I highly recommend this product.
