I literally opened the box today so I can't rate long term durability or suitability. However, my first few minutes with this bag set have been positive and hey they look great on my bike. First, I'll answer my own question: there are no internal divisions at all in these pockets. The backpack's bottom zipper opens into the same main compartment as the top front zipper.
