I usually stop driving when it gets colder. This year my friends and I decided to continue riding in the fall and with temperatures reaching 40C. My toes are cold as my regular shoes (Northwave Scorpius 2 Wide) are semi-mesh and very breathable. The wind and the cold blow at all. So I invested in these toe pads. What a difference, what a difference! With a long enough ride, the cold will certainly creep in and freeze you, but they go a long way in keeping you functional and dry. One of my first uses was a rainy and muddy day in 40F on a mountain bike trail. I am impressed. My toes still felt reasonably comfortable after an hour of riding and were definitely dry. On a hot summer day, I don't mind stepping into a puddle and splashing water on my feet. On a cold day this should be avoided. These help. A full sized case would have been better, but for the $20 I spent I'm pretty happy with it. Just long enough for them to detach the spike and hook onto the back end of the front spikes to hold it. The material stretches enough to accommodate the width of my wide shoes without being uncomfortable when pressed. money well spent.
