I wasn't originally going to review this keyboard, but unfortunately I feel I have to. I love this keyboard. i want to love it When I opened the box it was rough but I knew it would work. He was deaf, resilient, loud and somehow uncomfortable. But for a beginner it was a diamond in the rough. It needs a lot of tweaking to make it sound good. After adding a ton of foam to the case and between the circuit board and the upper case, the sound became less muffled and less springy. Lubrication makes the switches sound amazing and feel smoother. (I used 205g0 and there's a great $20 kit on the kebo.store to get you started.) New keycaps improve the feel and sound better. The anti-roll bars are surprisingly good and don't need adjustment, just a bit of lube (wipe off the factory lube and use a thicker lube and you're spot on). All in all it was an amazing and inexpensive project that helped me figure out if I wanted to get into the keyboard hobby. Unfortunately, with all the good comes some bad. And believe me, I was very disappointed to find out that only outemu switches fit. I bought a few individual switches to test if they work, only to find that outemu hot swaps are not compatible with any other switch. because they are smaller. The holes that the switch pins fit in are way too small for any other switch and when I compared my Cherry, Gateron and Arctos switches to the standard Outemu I found that the small pins on the Outemu are a lot smaller were. After that I tried to email the store where I understood it (Fengrun) after seeing that they advertise and tell people that you can use any switch not just outemu. That's basically what they told me, even though I raised the issue and tested it myself. I'm not sure how they're going to fix this, but I know they last told me they're going to do more extensive hot-swap testing with different switches. Maybe it was an accident and I was very unlucky, but I can't help but feel cheated by the ads and how they sold this keyboard. Again, I want to love it because it's amazing so far, but I was hoping to include other switches and not commit to Outemus as they aren't always the best quality. Tldr: A great keyboard at a beginner's price if you're willing to make changes, but it only supports Outemu switches. EDIT 1: They sent me another email. You are working with me on a solution. I will update asap. I've added an image as it came straight out of the box (orange, gray, and white keycaps) and an image after my modifications (white keycaps). EDIT 2: They suggested a new keyboard and we're working on sending it to me. I'm overall impressed with how Fengrun handled this situation and it was a pleasure to speak to their customer service reps, they get good feedback and are very nice. They say they are working on a compatibility issue. I still think this keyboard is very, very good if you're willing to make changes, but be aware that you can only get outemu's replacement keyboard. If it's a deal breaker then I'm not offering it.
