Review on Furman Elite 15 PF 13 Outlet Filtering by Kent Kings

In the last two months I have upgraded the stereo system in my living room to escape the audiophile hype and its overpriced prices. Once or twice in that process I thought I'd achieved my goal and then found I could do better. Good deal! But I remained skeptical about air conditioning. I didn't have any noticeable noise issues and the background noise seemed quiet. What could Fuhrman do to justify spending more than $600 including taxes? Two days before his arrival, I listened to several CDs that I used during this process. After Furman was installed, I started with the same CDs. Sound memory is notoriously unreliable, but as an amateur musician since childhood, my memory is perhaps slightly better than average. Basically, I tried not to listen "to" something and just watch what happens. Then the little surprises began. Guitar and piano sheet music with large extension and overtones. Both upper and lower frequencies are cleaner and more detailed. More vocal presence. The improvement varies from, say, 10 to 20%, but it's a home run. So I want to drop everything again and go back to the collection and listen to something I've never heard before. Problem: The 2 meter 14 amp and 15 amp cord was too short for me and Fuhrman doesn't offer a longer one. I initially added a 14-gauge, 15-amp, 9-foot extension cord that is commonly used on air conditioners, but I felt it would be better to replace it with a cord of the correct length. So I bought a 12 foot, 14 gauge, 15 amp cable from a reputable manufacturer, but it seemed to affect the sound a bit. Then I found an EHS-Shield SafeCord ***shielded*** eight foot 14 gauge 15 amp extension here at Revain that works great. The blue LED isn't for me - so my settings are red, green, blue and moonlight. Producers must take into account the preferences of many users so that light does not compete with music for attention. So the blue LED now has a small piece of black tape on it. Finally, Furman's finish is something of a black powder coat finish, which is grainy rather than smooth, shows dust easily, and feels like it's going to be a little hard to keep clean. None of these issues prevent me from giving this device five stars. I'm impressed by his influence on music. System: Sansui AU-717 as preamp and power amp for Canton passive subwoofer; Sherwood S-6040CP as power amplifier for two pairs of Canton main loudspeakers; active crossover Marchand XM9; Marantz SACD players; Turntable Technics SL-1600 MKII. With the exception of the Marantz and XM9, all vintage devices from the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Sansui and Sherwood are two mono amps with separate transformers and power supplies for each channel and obviously benefit from Furman's high current capability.
