I hesitated to buy these because I saw more bad reviews than I thought was normal. I know most people are in a hurry to order them, so here's the summary: This is a case of user error, use of debilitating drill bits, people looking for endangered hardwoods, or poor quality control (doubtful). These are great and you should buy these if you are a home player and need to drill through wooden beams and studs. it wasn't even worth it. I used these bits with an anemic 18v rectangular ryobi and it worked. This put more stress on the motor than I would have liked, but drilling the same joist with a hole saw and drill bit with a 3/8 inch cable caused the motor to overheat. Still, each hole took 5, maybe 10 seconds. These bits literally saved me hours between breaks so my hands wouldn't fall off and I didn't have to wait for the drill bit to cool. Corner; fully expected them to get stuck and break - and they were fine with a little vacuum and some brain cells. As for durability? I don't know how long they will last but I see no signs of wear after many home plumbing and installation jobs and find them ideal for the DIY enthusiast. If I had to take the risk I don't think I would ever need to buy them again.
