Magnets are strong, yes, but only at close range. This makes them useless for projects where you may have any significant material between the magnet and the object you wish to attract.Let's say you want to make a knife holder and put the magnet behind the wood. Won't work unless you are using something like 1/8 ply.Let's say you take a router and cut a grove in a chunk of wood and embed the magnet flush, then these are perfect but you can see the magnet.Remember these are magnets, not miracles. They will not attract; non-ferrous metals, women, dogs, or any other object that doesn't contain some amount of iron. These will not get you a girlfriend by waving near said girl. They will not get your dog back if you leave them in their dog bowl on the front porch (try fresh steak). However I have heard they can attract racoons very well. Racoons love shiny object but this has nothing to do with the magnetic properties of the magnet or the racoon, unless the racoon has eaten large amounts of iron dense material.
