(Almost) exactly what I was looking for

I've read a lot online and offline. I gather tons of information to support my writing. I hate the time it takes to write down ideas with the keyboard. Almost all modern Mac apps these days can dictate audio and convert it to text. So why write if I don't have to? I could use my iMac's built-in microphones, but they're not the best for this purpose, especially when I need to speak softly. So I started looking for a table microphone for the audio input. After reviewing a dozen options, I settled on this mic. The price speaks for a quality product, as do the advertised specifications. To date I have no complaints. Has good sensitivity and noise cancellation, probably because I can get the gooseneck mic closer to my mouth than with built-in mics. Specifications appear to be accurate. I hear no hum or electronic noise. I like the ability to easily see if the mic is on. The base is heavy and durable. So far so good, just what I needed. It would be ideal if the gooseneck was an extra 6-8 inches longer so the base could be held even further. Addendum: I bought a Logitech MX wireless keyboard which has the same layout and key mapping as the Apple board and can switch between Apple's standard layout features or Logitech's programmable key option. BUT, no matter which setting is active, the Fn button in the center of the circuit board, used to activate the above dictation function, does not work in any of the settings and cannot be programmed to do so. This has been confirmed by Logitech Technical Support. This is a fatal mistake for me. Thus, the keyboard is not a full replacement for the Apple keyboard.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
