Have used them several times so far. Usually use them for upholstery because we have so many damn cats. The reason for the side switch is to make it easier for left- or right-handed people to work against the grain or with things like the grain. The grapple function only works one way, so it makes sense that it rotates. If you are using your left hand and want to pull it towards you, switch it to one side. If it's the other hand or you want to move away from you, you'll change the position of your head and it'll pull your hair out instantly. The turntable lasted a few months so I wanted to wait to test it in case it broke but it works really well. It's really easy to clean with your hands, but on some materials it doesn't catch all the hair and even scrapes it through the damn thing. It's only happened on the backs of my chairs, but otherwise it works wonders on t-shirts and jeans. I hope this was helpful to you!
