You set up the device, check the screens etc, set the date and time for no reason (read on) then touch the start to make a beep allow. which can be set to instant or random etc. so far so good. Now let's say you fire off two quick shots at the horn. The time to the first shot and the time to the second shot are displayed. You can view it on screen. Now if you click Start again to hear the beep again, you just deleted the previous entry. The unit claims to have a record 99 shots - well, but only if you keep shooting - who's doing it? It's useless for tracking your progress, or lack thereof - if you don't want to stop after each streak of shots, manually record the info, then repeat again. As for why it needs a date and time doesn't make much sense - there's no option to boot with the device, there's no USB port and the memory is wiped every time you hit the timer, so what's the point. The product does what it says on the tin, but it's not much.
