I loaded kayaks directly onto a Thule roof rack. I had to lift everything up at once and then tip it onto the roof. Difficult and back-straining. This allows me to load one end and the J-hook secures the kayak while I lift the other. Simple, simple, which means I'll be going more often. Aside from the weird Chinese instructions, installation was easy. Good that the B-pillars also fold down! The hardware looks well made. Just two things - 1. Since I live near the sea I will be replacing the eight carriage bolts with stainless ones.2. I wouldn't trust the included straps to secure the sandwich. Throw them away when you open the box and buy good ones.
