Review on Aluminum Dog Door for Extreme Weather Conditions by Lisa Couture

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The doors were out of order, they were replaced with something better!

UPDATE: 8/17/2020 I was about to buy a new set of guards when I read on their website reviews that they have improved the design/materials and that they are replacing the old guards for free. I called. A super friendly guy answered. I told him what happened and he sent two new patches. I certainly hope that the flaps will be of much better quality, but the service was impeccable. I'm assuming the new keys are what Revain is currently shipping, so you should get a solid set of keys. INITIAL REVIEW: The frame is good, solid, and seems well made, but the flap material is casually flimsy. I installed the door in September 2020. In November the outer wing failed so I used liquid nails to fix it for the winter. Both the inner and outer sashes failed on a chilly day, somewhere in the teens (Northern Colorado) temperatures. Now I have a gaping hole where I have to constantly buy $40 replacement flaps, maybe at least twice a year. Normal wear and tear. Two puppies. Installed exactly according to the instructions provided. Absolutely useless. The following letter is addressed to the best business office regarding advertising fraud; it will NOT withstand ANY cold and normal wear and tear. While I wish there was a better alternative but couldn't find one at the time of purchase, I can tell you that if you live somewhere that gets even a little cold, you should NOT purchase this dog door.

Pros

Cons
  • Expensive
