Review on πŸ”₯ Antec Performance P8 Mid Tower Pre Installed: Unleash Optimum Efficiency by Rob Jimenez

Simple design but some features are missing

Pros: No LEDs included, it's a simple design that doesn't make it stand out negatively. The work inside the case wasn't too much, with the optional 140mm fan the air cooling actually works quite well. mounted on the back of the motherboard bracket. Cons: The tempered glass side makes this case extremely heavy. There is no power status indicator to connect to the motherboard, so you will need to use the case LEDs to view the "Antec" logo). There is no activity light to connect to the motherboard. That confuses me. Why doesn't anyone need an activity light (usually a hard drive light)? This was the easiest way to tell if your computer is locked if this indicator is solid while your computer is not responding. This is a simple little LED display. There is no reset button. For the past 15 years of building computers, I've always had a reset button. From what I've read online, people are suggesting just keeping the power button as the reset button. The two differ in how electricity is handled on your motherboard. There is no 5.25-inch bay on the front. I was initially okay with this as I had no plans to use a Blu-ray drive. I found out that my new motherboard comes with a USB 3.1 C port on the front. Since this case only comes with USB 3.0 slots on the front, I can never connect it to anything as I can't even install a 5.25 inch USB expander. Map for the front of my suitcase. I don't like how the motherboard has to be "inserted deep into the case" as the back of the motherboard gap isn't flush with the back of the case. This makes accessing the case to plug and unplug things a nightmare, as the motherboard backplate intrudes about an inch into the actual case. Initially, I placed two of my hard drives in a drawer in front of the power supply. When my computer ran for about 30 minutes, both hard drives were at 44 degrees Celsius despite an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. There is simply no airflow here unless you buy another supply air fan. So I had to move my hard drives into the brackets under the motherboard, but now there is a rattling noise as these brackets don't fit snugly in the case. These brackets attach to the case with just one screw, and the back of the brackets are held in place by just the pressure of that one screw. When my hard drive seeks, I think this bracket is rattling. The cable management system is quite difficult to use, especially when using an AC adapter with hard cables. I wish there were more holes from the PSU area under the case to the front of the motherboard. The LED control plug is a plug. My motherboard has a connector for the LED manager which is also a male header. I'm taking a chance and assume no one has standardized yet on what these connections should be. Right now I have a 4 pin male connector and another 4 pin male connector so I can get a female to female adapter if I care enough about it. Other thoughts: I went from a 5 year old Antec P280 to this case for my new build. As several online reviews have pointed out, the standard cooling provided by two 120mm fans can be considered insufficient, so I bought a 140mm fan to use as an air intake as well. During the stress tests, I was very surprised at how well this case performs. My main complaints are the lack of a simple little LED for power and another for activity. I never thought I had to specifically look for these when buying a suitcase as I thought they had been commonplace for over 20 years. minimize yaw. I think at some point I'll have to buy some foam to make a gasket that goes from the bracket to the body. For a brand new case, I'm surprised that there isn't a USB-C port on the front. There doesn't seem to be many cases like this, but newer motherboards support it. Judging by the noise of the hard drives, the lack of an activity LED, and the lack of USB-C on the front, I'll probably consider buying a new case in about 6 months when there are more USB-C options .
