All in all: hands off this monitor. There are better monitors out there that don't lie about their specs. I will no longer buy from ViewSonic due to false claims about this monitor. Pros: +144Hz is a huge step up from my old 70Hz monitor, especially for gaming. + Colors look bright and vibrant after adjusting settings. + Has FreeSyncCons: -165hz is a marketing gimmick. It has more disadvantages (causes screen tearing) than advantages versus 144Hz - 1ms response time disabled when AMD FreeSync or MPRT are enabled - 1ms mode also limits monitor brightness. This is an essentially useless feature that was only implemented to claim an incorrect 1ms response time in the spec. The actual response time is closer to 3-4 ms. The high refresh rate is tied to the DisplayPort output, when using HDMI the refresh rate cannot exceed 60 Hz.
