Review on Ergon SM Sport Ergonomic Comfort Bicycle Saddle for All Mountain, Trail, Gravel, and Bikepacking Bikes - Men's, Two Sizes (Black) by Jonathan Waritani

Old Bones update

The stock saddle on my Trek MTB gave me headaches on rides longer than an hour, so I decided to get a slightly larger saddle. I'm not exactly a "funny sausage" but I didn't want to get too big/heavy. A saddle that is too big chafes and is just as uncomfortable as a saddle that is too small. Ergon M/L seemed to be the answer. There are many saddles out there claiming to be the "most comfortable bike saddle", mostly Chinese ones, but I know from decades of experience that the rear wheel/saddle interface is very subjective; what works for one doesn't work for all. This Ergon saddle helps a bit as it's only slightly wider (155mm) and includes a Topeak QuickClick mounting bracket for the later purchased under-saddle bag (nice system). The price was higher than some comparable saddles, but I'd rather entrust my finery to a well-known brand than the cheapest choice.
