If you were a late '70s, early '80s teenager, you probably remember those white tube socks that hit the knees and had colored stripes at the top. In the past, you could pin a comb to the side of one leg and slip a few dollars you had when you went to the arcade or the store into the other. Time to get new ones was when the rubber band on top started fraying and they started falling off. If you're like me, you've noticed with disappointment that these knee-high socks have slowly been disappearing from stores as "crew socks" have taken their place. For a long time I had no choice but to wear them as I couldn't find any length above the knee. But HUMAN, they're a nuisance because they feel like they're knee-deep. I've been looking everywhere for these knee socks and finally found them and the great thing about them is that the elastic at the top doesn't fray. That way they stay on for the life of the socks, which brings me to the only issue with these socks. Life expectancy is only a few months due to pitting. Maybe I shouldn't fret so much because they last about 4-5 months. I ordered three new ones last year and I don't think the price is that bad. It has certainly saved me from feeling like my socks are falling off all the time.
