Review on UL/ETL Listed Surface 3 Charger - Replacement Power Adapter Cord and Micro USB Charging Cable for Surface 3 Model 1623 1624 1645 1657 Tablet by Charles Adelaja

A decent charger and a seller willing to vouch for it.

UPDATE: The charger failed after a little less than 3 months but the seller didn't bother me with a replacement. I just have to give them credit for their willingness to endorse their product. First Review: Well I've been using this charger for just under two weeks and have no real complaints. It looks more or less identical to the OEM charger, except the cable is hardwired to the brick instead of the USB. It doesn't really matter to me, since I only use this cable to charge my Surface 3 anyway, I didn't notice any difference in the charging time compared to my original charger in terms of charging quality. The specs are the same so I didn't expect any difference anyway. I had to replace the standard charger due to the design of the connector on the Surface 3. The micro-USB charging cables are loose and wobble up and down in the socket quite easily. I had 2 OEM chargers and both wore out within a year as a result. (Most of the time I leave my Surface plugged in, although I don't think I should. But I use it for over 12 hours every day, so.) Because this charger is designed to the same specs, it's also free in a Nest, which means it's bound to wear out over time too. But I don't blame the charger. The flaw is in Microsoft's design. One thing that worries me about this charger (suffice it to put a star on it) is that I see the micro USB connection light flickering a bit when I type (Surface Type Cover) with my onscreen finger type, tap the screen with your Surface pen, or click with a USB mouse. As always when there is HID input, there is a slight flicker. Reminds me of the hard drive work light on my old desktop while typing, although it's not nearly as uncomfortable. And the flickering doesn't seem to be related to performance degradation, so I think it's a cosmetic issue at best. As this is now my third charger (first two were OEM) and the first two wore out due to a problem with a loose socket, I secured the connector on this charger by wrapping tape around the black part of the micro USB connector, filling that space between the fork body and the side of the Surface. So it can't swing back and forth. The whole thing fits more securely and hopefully lasts longer.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
