Review on Vanguard SB 100 Stone Bag by Adam Nelson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sturdy but a bit bulky for tripod mounting

An easy way to add weights to your tripod to stabilize your shots. Fastens with three Velcro straps - one for each leg. It's a bit awkward to use as the velcro straps slide down to the lock that attaches the extended top leg to my Benro Carbon tripod. A little uncomfortable design because you can't put it on and take it off easily depending on the situation. I leave it in place and it worries that it will get caught in bushes when walking with a tripod in the field. Despite this shortcoming, the tripod can be stabilized with around 5 lb of stones. Particularly useful for long exposures of stars, landscapes, etc. It also provides a handy "shelf" for storing wallets, keys, camera accessories, etc. for long bird photography sessions. The quality of the material looks solid but only time will tell.
