I recently moved from a house with a garage to a studio where I needed to make room for a road bike. I didn't need a wall stand for many reasons. Having read a lot of reviews about this stand damaging the spokes I was a bit wary. The width of the stand is adjustable. I installed it on a slightly wider plane than my tires. I use it on the front wheel of a bicycle. So there is no chance of it interfering with the gears. When I first put the bike on the stand, it caught on the reflectors and pinched it in the spokes. Since then I've been careful and haven't had any incidents. Width is perfect for Ikea Expedit/Kallax shelf. I park my bike on the top shelf as shown in the picture. I recommend this for a fast and reliable indoor bike rack.
