But Valve is great.

3 stars - too bad. The valve is actually of excellent quality; made of heavy brass. The problem with the product (as it was sent to me) is that it was not assembled correctly and the required rubber gasket was not included with the valve. Assembly issue: The set screw that holds the valve stem was not tightened during final assembly. Consequently, as the water pressure began to rise, the valve stem broke. Luckily I was standing right there and was able to avert the catastrophe. Tightening the screw to the stop fixes the problem. Main Gasket: A shower arm gasket is required when installing this item to securely seal the inlet side. The seal must be enclosed with the valve. Recommendations: Check the valve before installation. Make sure the set screw holding the valve stem is in place. This set screw is located at the bottom on the inlet side of the valve. This requires a small slotted screwdriver, which must be fully screwed in. It doesn't need to be "mechanically tight," it just needs to be screwed in so the stem doesn't fly out when you spin the water. on the. There is a screw to allow the valve to be disassembled and reassembled. Other thoughts: The valve is not designed for 100% water shutoff. It is designed for trickle. If it doesn't drip, it's not installed properly. Most plumbing codes do not allow this type of valve to shut off 100% of the flow. They protect you from yourself.
