Easy to use and easy to catch fish, these plastic baits are one of my favorites. I find I can just hook the nose with a round octopus hook for the best action. It also makes it easier to remove the hook. But sometimes it doesn't hook and I set it to push the hook further down to try and get better hooks. Plus, once it starts heating, it needs less tangling with weed. At the moment I've found Watermelon Red, Houdini and Watermelon Magic to be the best colors for the water I fish for bass, and flashier colors (albino was my best) for sight seeing fish like pickers seem to work best. .For me, however, bass are often caught on the first fall when they hit the water. If there's bass around and that's what they're looking for that day, they'll come and get it. I can't tell you how many bass I've caught in thick cover just by tossing them in the weeds and waiting. I even used it as a pad frog and caught a perch. I use all fins from tiny to magnum. I find a time and place for everyone in my fishing season and they each catch a lot of bass for me.
