3M recommended this product for some of the heavily oxidized gelcoats on my 2013 Sea Ray. The mirror had a cloudy or milky appearance, probably because it's always submerged when boating. It took half a dozen passes with my new Griot DA buffer, but it came out clean. When it comes to detailing, I'm a multi-step guy, not an all-in-one guy. However, this product has a protective wax applied during manufacture. This allowed me to hit the water on the 4th of July with some protection, even if I later wanted to apply the Light compound and its pure wax or some other brand protection. I don't care how poor you are. Invest in a DA buffer (the size of a side grinder). Color correction results are much better and much faster. In this particular case I would still work on it.
