Works great on oxidized van front cover

I used this 3M Perfect-It Gelcoat Medium Compound on our 2014 Cedar Creek Silverback Vans faded/oxidized dark brown front cover. It made a big difference after the 1st pass. I had to do 2 passes with a wool cap, then 1 pass with a buff cap, then buff with a microfiber cloth. I'll probably try using 3M Perfect- It's a Gelcoat Light Compound just to see if it gives the front cover a shinier sheen now.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Not the best

Great results - easy to use

Just completed camper. I'll try to find a photo beforehand. The best product I've ever used. Tried connection, working hours didn't work. I used a 5" Porter Cable Orbital Buffer on 4 different pads treated with Meguiar's Buff & Polish Finish Pad. The lid was heavily oxidized, milky white. Lower RPM for better distribution, can heat up quickly. Easy to make with maybe 6 ounces of product it's expensive but worth every penny I would highly recommend this product if used as advertised.

Use a 3M wool pad with this product

So it was trial and error. When I received the polishing pad from 3M it was a great result. He polished out light scratches and removed oxidation just like he said. Just do yourself a favor and use 3M wool buffing pads, they are way better than others I've found. The mixture stays wet long enough to do what you need to do without the need for multiple passes. I was going to wax afterwards but it leaves wax after the compound burns off so I just towel buffed the wax and finished it off with my…

This worked great for me

This is my first part in a motorhome that has not been well maintained I don't think so and have spent a long time looking for the right products to accomplish this task. In the 2 photos you can see the line where the 3m Perfect-It Medium Cutting Compounded & Wax Gelcoat was applied and where the oxidation was still on the surface. On the other 2 photos you can see the finished shine. This was done using Griots DA Polisher and Griots Compounding Orange Sponge. Very happy with how 3m Perfect-It…

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

3M has this product for some of my more heavily oxidized .

3M recommended this product for some of the heavily oxidized gelcoats on my 2013 Sea Ray. The mirror had a cloudy or milky appearance, probably because it's always submerged when boating. It took half a dozen passes with my new Griot DA buffer, but it came out clean. When it comes to detailing, I'm a multi-step guy, not an all-in-one guy. However, this product has a protective wax applied during manufacture. This allowed me to hit the water on the 4th of July with some protection, even if I…
