In the end I used. However, no instructions were included, not that it matters. Taking it apart to tie it to the string was agony in the back of a nightmare. 2 flat head screwdrivers, pliers, lots of obscenities. If it were two separate parts and not all finished it would be a lot easier. Putting it back together after attaching the cord is just as difficult. Nothing to relieve the tension on the wire/anything to hold the wire, so I tied a knot in the wire to hold it in the connector. Never pull the plug out of the socket by pulling on the cord. So did it work? Yes, of course, it's just very difficult. I would suggest using something else. But I wanted to "take a look" and use a fabric covered wire (I removed the fabric from the wire in the connector and there was still VERY little room). Fur. I lived. You should too. I bought 2 and can't wait to use the next one. Pooh.
