Let me first say that I'm a big fan of gadgets. So the mod platform is very attractive to me. Against this background, I have to say that I am disappointed with this product. For $300, this mod didn't even bother me. For $150 I had to bite. Let me explain why even at half the price it doesn't live up to expectations. Image quality: For this price you can buy a high-quality, feature-rich digital camera. This mod has an upgraded lens and optical zoom, but it's still inferior to my old V10 and cheap digital camera. The lens is noisy and squeaks on playback when zoomed in on in video mode. Autofocus in zoom mode is almost useless, especially for close-up shots. dim light? Not even an option. Very poor low light performance. Practicality: This mod is large and although it comes in a case, you won't want to carry it around if you don't have a wallet. However, it had to be durable so that you can connect it to your phone and not worry. However, this is not the case. It also consumes a lot of battery and therefore generates a lot of heat. Cooling Factor: The cooling factor is much lower than the impractical factor. Think about how often you switch phones. You end up with an $850 camera (the cost of a phone and a camera) running Android that takes decent, not great, pictures. So it's impractical, poor quality compared to cheap alternatives and frankly, poor execution is already a risky concept. Update: I just got my hands on a $100 Nikon Coolpix for a fair comparison. Day and night. Take that camera down. Not even close. If you want better photos on your phone, get an LG phone, otherwise get a camera. Don't overdo the mediocrity. The photos below have been enlarged from a great distance and the results you see are screenshots. It took MANY failed attempts to get good focus. But pretty good shots, not great.
