DO NOT recommend this, sat down with my 6 year old to help him build and paid very close attention to the wiring which would have been pretty hard to mess up anyway. Turned on and nothing, of course he was upset. Tested and researched, there's no reason this wouldn't work. Turned on again, nothing. Left it for further investigation, nothing. But then I noticed a very thin plume of white smoke and tried to look for an access point on the engine but nothing. Then I discovered that the battery wire harness had melted on the spring pack. The only place the positive terminal can touch the negative terminal is in the motor, so I tested the motor with another 3 volt battery and nothing on the motor, but THAT pack started getting hot. The motor had a direct short circuit, so turning the switch on effectively turned the robot into a heating coil. Not cool. Be careful parents.
