Review on Upgraded JOMITOP Conversion Flashlights: Enhanced Replacement Version by Chp Rodgers

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as advertised but works better than expected.

When I ordered this lamp I wanted 200lm light output with two D cell batteries, that's what I ordered. I have an old Maglight bulb that will replace this bulb and a newer version with a 140 lumen LED, both with very similar body shapes and on/off buttons (as well as the latest 560 lumen flashlights). . I wanted to upgrade my old incandescent bulb to 200 lumens so both bulbs would roughly match. When the new LED bulb arrived I confirmed it was what I ordered, P135-3W2C, and the label on the bulb says '3V CE'. When I installed the new bulb, the light output was less than a 140lm flashlight, maybe 50lm or so if you compare the spot size and brightness of each. The old LED is definitely much brighter. Since both lamps had brand new type D batteries (Duracell brand with copper tops), I used a Fluke 77 DMM to test the current in both lamps. This LED lamp draws about 0.07A when fully on, an older LED flashlight shows 1.57A for a bright LED output. Checking the V/I curves for a Duracell D battery, a new 0.07A lamp probably corresponds to "ECO" mode in newer Maglights and maybe 50lm, which is very similar to ECO. mode (IMO). Maybe it's designed for that, but it doesn't live up to the advertised LM performance and expected runtime in a flashlight with a new bulb. So it's out of spec for that. The upside of all this is that I originally wanted the ECO power to turn on with a single click, like the old Maglight flashlight, so it's great for that. but it's not what i ordered. As a result I gave this part 3 stars, it fails but is excellent. That said, if you absolutely need LM performance you may be disappointed, but if you need ECO performance you may be as surprised as I am. I know this probably won't help you decide as I can't tell you what part you're getting and if they will do one or the other in the future, but for now I'm pretty happy but still a bit upset that it doesn't match their advertising. Overall pleasantly surprised.
