Sole Test Shoes: Shoes

I'm trying to stop buying Sperry Top Sider boat shoes because after a year the sole gets hard (the sticky sole evaporates and hardens - dangerous). This shoe is probably not Sebago's best example, with thin panels and poor support. But as far as size goes, I wear double EE's and they fit perfectly. The next pair will be an improved Sebago model that better suits my needs. Let's see how the sole holds up in a year. UPDATE THREE MONTHS LATER: The dyed white piping around the shoe easily washes out leaving a dark blue color. Looks very rough after only a few months of very light use. Also, the blue outline over the white is erased. Finally, the insert in the shoe is very flat, so there is no support in any direction. Not recommended. I called Sebago today to see if they would accept a return as Revain's dealer refused. IMPORTANT: Wolverine shoes are now owned by the same company that owns Sperry shoes. REP confirmed that Sperry had an issue with the outsole spinning a lot and becoming slippery. (even with a protector on it). She said Sperry changed the formula of his soles so they wouldn't get hard. Hardening occurred on three of my Sperry Gold Cup, Flip Flops, and Billfish shoes. And I'm nowhere near any chemicals that could cause such a defect. Hopefully, Sperry recovered. And I hope that Sebago suits me. In the meantime I bought some nice new Sebagos with a "W" (2E) width. But the width isn't the same as the shoes I'm considering so I went back!
