I have NEVER used a vacuum system for food. I used regular ziplock bags and squeezed the air out as best I could. But lately I've gotten tired of freezer burn fatigue and always think I should freeze food better or use fatter food. So I gave up and searched and shopped around and for the price I decided to give this one a try. and I really use it! It's easy to use, the pouches are reusable (I wash, dry and reuse) and so far it's held up well to freezer burn and is easy to use. A downside for some might be that it's a hand pump (not cordless/not electric), but that's why I like it. If the power goes out for an extended period (6+ hours), open a food item; Without power, you can't seal open food, wet clothes, pet food, etc. And if the battery dies and you don't have a spare on hand, you don't have to worry. so yes, it works for me. and travel convenience (camping, RV trips, BOB) as it is handy, small and easy to store. I would recommend: yes Pros: Ease of use; Hand, reusable bags: if you want more bags, you should buy a set (but maybe not that bad) 4 stars because, hey, I want you to believe that this review is from a real user! and five stars might make you a little skeptical about this rating.
