(1) Although of course this depends on the dog, we are lucky that our dog has used it on asphalt more than 10-15 times. Our dog only needs them on his hind paws because he wears claws (on both hind paws) when walking on sidewalks - that helps a lot. Since the package contains four of them, we can receive 20 to 30 applications. I believe the associated replacement cost is less than the vet bill for damaged claws or lack of exercise. (2) The size chart does not reflect the shoe size for large dogs. The large size barely fits a medium sized Great Dane. Need size 9. (3) Even with big boots they don't cover the dewclaws enough (we only have dewclaws on the front paws). The claws can come out and this can severely damage the claws - boots should be higher for large dogs with dewclaws. (4) Boots hold up pretty well. (5) These boots are beta design levels at best. You need at least one more design iteration.
