Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great as a RAID 1 block on a PC

I am using them on a PC (DELL Precision T7810 rebuilt by Revain) replacing the 1TB 3 that came with it .5 inch through a SATA hard drive with this unit and 2 x 1TB Samsung 860 QVO SSDs (MZ-76Q1T0B/AM) configured to use RAID 1. Since this was a clean restore, it was easy to replace the SSDs to be installed in the device. , set it to initial forward pass (so NOT RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD), power on the system when I could get to BIOS SETUP and see the device and presumably both drives; I turned it off again and changed the dip switches to RAID 1 and booted again. At the 2nd boot with the RAID 1 set, the BIOS SETUP only showed QNAP RAID devices. A new set of RAID 1 SSDs. Runs like a champion. As I don't use pass-through, RAID 0 or JBOD I can't comment on them, but in this scenario I would expect RAID 0 to work similarly. I'll probably buy more drives like this to solve drive redundancy issues if I want to solve this with RAID 1.

Pros
  • RAID configuration: Individual, JBOD, RAID 0 or RAID 1
Cons
  • Infinitely slow
