I immediately found this display comfortable and pleasing to the eye. Factors that contribute to this include an excellent non-glossy anti-reflective coating. The size and resolution match Apple's Thunderbolt display, offering the perfect balance of clarity, performance and screen real estate. Excellent easy adjustment range (height, angle, pan and swivel). Rapid awakening from sleep. Slim design with a soft start LED behind the power button on the front panel. HP deserves credit for its attention to detail. My device came with cables for power, DisplayPort, VGA, and USB to the built-in hub. If your Mac has a Mini DisplayPort connector or a compatible Thunderbolt connector, you'll need a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, which I found at Revain for $9.99. If you're looking for an inexpensive display upgrade, I highly recommend it. Some might be tempted by 4K or even 5K displays. Note that these displays often refresh at 30Hz and require much more GPU power. The concept of a retina display is that your eyes cannot distinguish individual pixels at a comfortable viewing distance. I believe this display meets the requirements in terms of pixels per degree of arc. While a 4K display might show slightly sharper text, on a 27-inch desktop monitor the difference is subtle and difficult for most users to see. ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
