Review on 57 3022 2 FIPK Performance Intake System by Darnell Nahabet

What cool, cold air!

I installed this intake on my 1999 Z28 Camaro. It was very easy to do and the instructions were very clear. The only parts I had trouble with was removing the MAF sensor from the old intake manifold. And removing the IAT sensor from the resonator wasn't easy either. Also, this K&N pickup was very easy to install on my LS1 powered beast! I don't have a range hood so I don't think I'm getting the full effect of this cold air duct. My Camaro's hood is now a standard flat hood. I plan to get an SS carbon fiber hood soon! I've heard that K&N air intake causes the intake air temperature to skyrocket. I don't know how true that is. I think if you have a range hood you don't need to worry about that as the exhaust will still blow cold air into the intake. I think without the ram air cap this air intake becomes "thermal". At least that's what I heard. People have been telling me to just take the SLP cover/bellows and use them as the air intake instead. Anyway, I decided to do this K&N move lol.

Pros
  • To improve throttle response and engine sound
Cons
  • Safety
